AFBS Celebrates National Peanut Month

Despite being called the “Peach State,” Georgia is better known for its peanut crops which actually generate nine times the revenue that peach crops do. Georgia’s 1.65 billion pound yield of peanuts accounts for about half the nation’s peanut consumption. Needless to say that is something to celebrate especially during March, which is National Peanut Month.

Our members know the virtue and diversity of the lowly groundnut as demonstrated in the wide array of recipes both sweet and savory featured on their blogs:

Peanut Butter Power Bars
Peanut Butter Oreo Fudge
Kentucky Derby Pie
Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Mousse Sandwiches
Sweet and Salty Compost Cookies
Peanut Brittle

Colonial Peanut Soup
West African Black Bean Stew
Thai Peanut Rolls
Sesame Meatball Satay
Peanut Noodle Salad
Hoisin Slaw
Enchiladas with Peanut Sauce

Of course, there is nothing wrong with eating it right out of the jar, either!
